What do you get?
The 2 hour workshop begins with a (very) brief history of books and book binding and the various structures of different types of bound books. The pupils will then have a chance to ask any questions before we move on to the main event.
I will take the pupils through a step-by-step process which turns a collection of A4 sheets into a short sewn-board notebook. Sewn-board binding is a stepping stone between paperback and full case-bound hardbacks. The process generalises well to longer books. If there is time, we can also discuss printing a document for binding to create printed books.
At the end of the session each pupil should have completed their own hand-made notebook.
